What drives the cost
- Number of bathrooms, fixtures and appliances to reconnect
- Stories, and whether there is attic or crawl-space access
- PEX or copper
- Replacing supply lines only, or drains as well
- Drywall patching and painting afterward
- Permits and inspections
Scope matters most
A whole-house repipe, a partial repipe of the worst runs and a reroute of one failing line are different projects. Knowing which one the house needs is the first step.
What to ask
Whether patching is included, how long the water will be off each day, and how the old pipe will be handled — abandoned in place or removed.
