Water Treatment and Filtration in Weir

We come to the property to assess the water concern, the plumbing layout and the equipment that fits the job. Pecan Valley Plumbing installs treatment and filtration systems chosen for the water entering the home.

The water at the tap determines the equipment that belongs in the house.

Minerals in the water leave scale behind as water moves through fixtures, valves and the water heater. Over time, that buildup shows on faucets and glassware, works against moving parts and reduces how efficiently a water heater transfers heat. When recurring scale is the issue, a softener addresses hardness rather than simply cleaning up the marks it leaves behind.

Not every property receives water with identical characteristics, so treatment starts with a current water analysis instead of an assumption. Hardness, dissolved minerals, sediment and a particular taste, smell or contaminant concern call for different equipment. A filter that catches grit does not remove dissolved minerals, and a softener is not automatically the answer to every staining or taste problem.

Installation also has to work with the house. Treatment equipment needs an appropriate drain connection and enough access for regular maintenance, so we consider those practical details along with the water results before fitting a system.

What you see in the water and around the house points toward different treatment.

  • Spots on dishes and scale on fixtures

White spots on dishes and mineral crust on fixtures are common signs of hard water. Those minerals also collect inside a water heater. A softener treats the hardness that causes the buildup rather than the spots alone.

  • Water that tastes or smells off

Chlorine, sulfur and metallic tastes do not call for the same treatment. Testing the water first helps identify what needs to be addressed before a filtration system is selected.

  • Dry skin and dull laundry

Hard water often leaves skin feeling dry and makes laundry look less bright. Softened water rinses more cleanly and lets soap work further.

  • Cloudy water or grit in the lines

Sand, rust flakes and other fine particles can settle out in the water and gradually clog aerators, screens and appliances. A sediment filter captures particles like these, but it does not treat minerals dissolved in the water.

  • Orange or rust-colored staining

Reddish-orange marks in sinks, tubs or toilets, along with similarly tinted laundry, often point to iron in the water. Iron generally needs treatment designed for iron because a standard softener is not built to handle it well.

The full choice of treatment begins with the water test and the plumbing.

Our main Water Treatment and Filtration service page explains how we assess water concerns, compare treatment options and decide what suits the property. It covers the broader work, including water softeners, whole-house filters and reverse osmosis systems, while the installation itself still needs to match the water results and the home’s layout.

You do not need to know the cause before you call.

If scale, staining, off-tasting water or sediment is showing up at home, give Pecan Valley Plumbing a ring. We can discuss what you are noticing and arrange to assess the water and the space available for treatment equipment.
