An uncommon hard freeze exposes the lightly protected lines in Round Rock homes.
Round Rock does not live through long, routine periods of freezing weather. When a hard freeze does arrive, the plumbing most at risk is often the small number of runs that were never intended to endure extended cold: pipe in exterior wall cavities, garages and attics, along with hose connections and exposed backflow or irrigation piping. Ice blocks the line and stops water from reaching the fixtures it supplies.
That makes frozen-pipe work here a matter of finding the exposed or lightly insulated weak point rather than treating every buried line as the likely source. We assess the affected run, thaw it carefully, and restore flow without treating the return of water as the end of the job.
A pipe can split, or a joint can begin leaking, while water is frozen inside it. The damage is sometimes only visible once the ice has melted and pressure returns. After thawing, we inspect for signs of a split or leak, with particular attention to outdoor shutoffs and exposed connections that have been through the cold outbreak.
Round Rock is where we work from, and we understand that a severe freeze here often brings trouble to plumbing that has spent most winters without that level of protection.
