What is hydro jetting?

Hydro jetting cleans a drain or sewer line with water at very high pressure. A specialized nozzle scours the full inside of the pipe, removing grease, scale, sludge and cut roots rather than just opening a path through them.

How it works

A hose is fed into the line through a cleanout. Water leaves the nozzle through jets angled backward, which pull the hose forward, and sideways, which scrub the pipe walls. As the hose is drawn back, the debris is flushed downstream.

What it is good for

  • Grease-heavy kitchen lines and main lines
  • Lines that clog again soon after being snaked
  • Clearing roots after they have been cut
  • Preparing a line for a camera inspection or lining

When it is not the right tool

Pipe that is badly cracked, collapsed or very fragile may not handle the pressure. A camera inspection first shows whether the line is sound enough to jet.
